Elisha and I were in a taxi on a Saturday evening on our way to TGIFriday’s for an evening of western food with 4 other couple friends of ours when we noticed this truck ahead of us. Our taxi driver, in very broken English, and with a heavy reliance on body language (picture a person scooping soup into their mouth, followed by a “berry gooot” and a thumb’s up) confirmed what we already knew. These dogs were on their way to the butcher. Dogs are considered good food here in Korea, and are most often eaten in soup. I have yet to try it, but Zach compared it to eating beef. Even he, however, balked at slurping down the cooked dog skin when it was offered…yeesh. Isn’t it interesting what different cultures consider tasty food? But, I get the impression that eating dog is on the wane here, as more and more people have dogs as pets. One thing that may even be obvious from the picture is that the dogs raised for food are very different from dogs raised as pets. They really are just another form of livestock, similar to hogs and cattle.

In other news….here’s a quote from Elisha that had me laughing today.
“I just have this urge to cook and bake and bake and bake….maybe it’s my nesting instinct kicking in.”

Sheesh, this having a pregnant wife is really rough. For my waistline!
Oh yes, there’s also a new Bluegrass tune in the “SongSpot” to the right. It’s a classic. Duelling Banjos – enjoy!
