It all sounded so easy. Elisha and I wanted to spruce up our main bathroom and as we threw around ideas, it seemed like a very doable project that we could start and finish over the 1 week Spring Break at the end of March. HA! Could we have been any more naive? What started out as a “spruce up” the bathroom job got bigger and bigger as cheap and quick reno options were trashed in favour of nicer, but more time consuming and labour intensive ideas. With a few delays in materials, the one week Spring Break working window came and went in a hurry, which meant that I would be squeezing renovation work in on every available weeknight and Saturday. It wasn’t exactly a recipe for a wonderful Spring. The project that was supposed to take a week finished in mid-June – approximately 10 weeks later… In any case, here is the photo update. This project finished well, but I have to state loud and clear that it NEVER could have happened if not for the massive amount of work my dad put in. He’s done many bathroom reno’s in the past as side work and his expertise in installing plumbing, flooring, windows, and skills in drywalling and taping was indispensable. Elisha made all the design decisions, and I laid every single tile. Believe me, there were a LOT of tiles. I think next time I agree to reno a bathroom I’ll insist on the biggest tiles possible!
